With many countries adopting digital TV broadcast, not few are asking about the fate of analog TV receivers. While it is almost inevitable that they will end up in junk shops and antique stores, this paper presents an alternative use that could extend the services of these talking boxes. We propose a way of converting them into low-cost digital-storage oscilloscopes. Past attempts have shown the feasibility of this concept so this paper attempts to present (2) alternative architectures by which analog signals are sampled, stored, retrieved and displayed through the NTSC standard for the composite video signal. The performance of the two versions are discussed and compared.
